.: ct scan under general anaesthetic

You will be required to attend Anaesthetic Clinic the week prior to the procedure.  It is most important that you do not miss this appointment as the CT Scan can not proceed without seeing the Anaesthetist.

The CT Scan will take at least one hour.

For Children:

  • If your child develops a fever, cold, or cough a few days before the CT Scan, you will need to seek advice from your own doctor.  If your doctor advises that it would be unwise to proceed with the CT Scan, could you please notify us as soon as possible, so we can give the appointment to another child.
  • Your child would be booked into the next months CT Scan General Anaesthetic slot.
  • Following the CT Scan your child will recover under the supervision of the Anaesthetic Team and then returned to Ward 2.

For Adults:

  • Following the CT scan you may be taken to the Recovery Room in Theatre.  Once you are awake you will be returned to the Ward.  Your doctor will then decide when you will be discharged.
  • If you have any problems or questions please ring FRSL (Fulford Radiology Services Ltd) at Taranaki Base Hospital and ask to speak to the X-ray Nurse.
