About CRISP
CRISP Nurses NZ is a National body set up to help bring Nurses working in the Interventional Radiology Field together and facilitate sharing of information and experience. The inaugural meeting was held in 1985 and the founding members were Linda Robert (from OBEX), Debbie Booth, June Carpenter, and Jenny Smith. For many years OBEX oversaw the annual CRISP conference, but eventually the Nurses took over this responsibility and each year a different area hosts the conference. However, OBEX continues to be a major part of the CRISP conference.
The Debbie Booth Memorial Travel Award
Debbie Booth originally commenced her Radiographers training in Christchurch, but instead of sitting her final exam she decided to go nursing instead. Following an overseas trip she worked in Green Lane Hospital where she completed a Cardio-Thoracic course and worked in Cardiac Interventional Radiology for several months. Eventually she was appointed as Charge Nurse of the Radiology Department at Christchurch Hospital. Tragically, a month later, on October 27th 1985 she died. Each year at the conference the Debbie Booth Memorial Travel Award is presented to the winning Nurse Presentation by OBEX. A silver rose bowl, presented by Debbie’s parents accompanies this prize.
The Anne Chatterton Fund
Anne Chatterton was a part-time Radiology Nurse at Palmerston North Hospital between 1981 and 1988. After leaving to travel to the Sultanate of Oman in 1988 she was tragically killed in a car crash while back in New Zealand on holiday. The Anne Chatterton Fund is available to CRISP Nurses who require assistance for travel purposes when either attending a radiology Conference within New Zealand or overseas, or when making work related observation visits. This year grants of up to $300.00 for North Island Nurses or $200.00 for South Island Nurses have been made available in regards to attending the CRISP conference. To apply for a grant you need to send a formal letter of request to Doryan Mahalm, Daphne During, and Cathy Farquhar at the Christchurch Hospital Radiology Department. The letter needs to outline what value you will receive from attending the Conference or observation visit, and must be received before August 1st, 2009. |
